Lifang Recommended in Both MIP and Chambers Rankings

In response to Lifang’s exceptional performance in 2010, the firm is ranked in Band 2 of Intellectual Property firms in Chambers Asia 2011 and two Lifang lawyers are featured as Leaders in their Field. Further, the 2011 World IP Survey by Managing Intellectual Property has also nominated and ranked Lifang in all the major IP categories, patent, trademark and copyright.

Highlights of work done in 2010:

- Won the final victory for Dingjin Food Co., Ltd. (Master Kong) in a three-year patent infringement and unfair competition litigation against Uni-President;

- Stopped the use of the household name Lu Xun in domain names for commercial purposes for the son of China’s most important modern writer;

- Defending Zhongwei Bus & Coach Group in what the media dubbed “No.1 China Bus Infringement Case,” a design patent infringement allegation by Neoplan Bus GmbH, having invalidated the German company’s patent;

- Defended Samsung against a serious infringement allegation by invalidating all of its opponent’s patent rights;

- Defended Hubei Wushi Pharmaceuticals the second instance and retrial procedures of the patent infringement case against Aonuo (China) Pharmaceuticals and won the final victory for the client;

- Defended a vital patent of the French catalyst maker Rhodia and represented it before the Supreme Court to stop infringement;

- Represented Midea and defended its vital patent in the invalidation and subsequent administrative proceedings;

- Representing Danish fashion company Bestseller against e-commerce trademark infringements;

- Represented China Unicom in China’s first anti-monopoly case which established principles concerning evidence rules and market definition in anti-monopoly litigation

- Representing Foxconn in 30 invention and utility model patent infringement cases, having won most of them;

- Represented the South Korean technology company, Zalman, in 17 patent infringement cases and won all of them, during the course of which Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court issued its first ever pre-litigation patent injunction;

- Representing the UK client Dyson in 5 patent infringement cases against bladeless fan manufacturers and having won 2 of them with the other three pending.
