On September 17 and 18, the 2010 China Lawyer Intellectual Property Practice Innovation Forum, in conjunction with the 8th annual meeting of the Intellectual Property Commission of All China Lawyers Association, was held in Qingdao. In addition to the main forum, the meeting set up sub-forums featuring Copyright, Patent, Trademark, Trade Secret and Enterprise IP. Participants included more than 200 lawyers, experts and entrepreneurs for China mainland and Taiwan. Guest speakers included Luo Dongchuan, Deputy-director of Research Office, Supreme People’s Court, Lv Shaohua, Deputy-director of China’s Trademark Office, Liu Min, Deputy-director of SAIC’s Legislation Department, Yu Chike, Director of Legislation Department, Copyright Office, and Lei Youyu, Deputy-director of SIPO’s Coordination Department.
Lifang partners Liu Yanxi, Deng Yao and Zhang Chunyao attended the forum. Mr. Deng Yao was elected Deputy-director of the Copyright Branch and presided over Copyright Sub-forum.
At the close ceremony, a special proceeding was for awarding 10 Best IP Papers and 10 Best IP Cases of the year. The paper written by Mr. Deng Yao, Defects in the Way of China’s Criminal Prosecution of Trade Secret Cases and Recommendations, is one of the Best Papers, whereas Li Fangping v. China Netcom’s Beijing Branch anti-monopoly case, where Lifang partner Xie Guanbin successfully defended Netcom (now China Unicom) is among the 10 Best IP Cases.
