On November 17, 2023, Lifang & Partners’ Shanghai Office and the School of Business of Sanjiang University jointly held the third Xiangzhang Intellectual Property Salon, attended by Mr. Jing Wang, partner of Lifang & Partners’ Shanghai Office, and Dr. Jian Yang, senior counsel of Lifang & Partners’ Shanghai Office.

Dr. Jian Yang, with the theme of Rules for the Recognition and Interpretation of Functional Features in Patent Infringement Litigations, discussed issues such as the patent linkage system, patent protection scope and claim interpretation, all-element rule and doctrine of equivalents, citing the first case in the Supreme Court in which a pharmaceutical chain composition patent confirmed to fall within the scope of patent protection as an example. Mr. Jing Wang answered the questions related to the principle of redundant designation from a historical perspective.
