Lifang Managing Partner, Xie Guanbin, and 6 others including partners Liu Yanxi, Deng Yao and Zhang Chunyao attended China’s first forum on copyright practice held in Guangzhou on June 25-26, 2011. The forum was sponsored by the IP Committee of All China Lawyers Association and Guangdong Province Lawyers Association, to strengthen communications and exchanges between lawyers, industries and other relevant professionals engaged in copyright legal services and management, and to upgrade copyright management practice and legal service standards. The 200 representatives attending the event include senior judges and experts from the Supreme People’s Court, the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), High People’s Courts of Beijing and Guangdong Province, Intermediate People’s Courts of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and district courts of Guangzhou, as well as lawyers, industry representatives all over China and copyright practitioners from Japan and South Korea.

Mr. Xie gave a splendid speech on Collective Management of Copyright and Promotion of the Copyright Industry. Mr. Deng presided over the forum for judges and lawyers to exchange opinions on copyright practice. The paper by Zhou Yong and Deng Yao, entitled “Copyright License and Franchise” was accorded the Excellent Paper Award. Further, Lifang’s Guangzhou Office won the Excellent Organization Award.
